About Us
EC Wear LLC, based in New York City, is owned and operated by Marija, a work-at-home-mom (WAHM). Marija and her husband Chuck have been practicing Elimination Communication with their son since his birth. Initially, their interest came out of concern for the environment and dislike of disposable diapers. Eventually, they realized the best benefit of EC was for their son's health.

While immensely enjoying EC, they quickly became frustrated with the impractical onesies and footie pajamas they had purchased and received as shower gifts, and began searching for more practical baby clothes. They found very little selection and most of the clothes were made in countries with horrifying labor conditions.

There were a few online stores which sold EC products, with a limited selection of clothing. However, none of them specialized in sweatshop-free baby clothing, which was very important to Marija, a former union organizer. It also seemed that due to the growing interest in infant potty training, there was an increased demand for fashionable and convenient clothing for the practice. So, EC Wear was created in the spring of 2008.
At EC Wear you will find clothes in sizes newborn to 24 months that are made in USA, Canada, Europe, or Australia, fair trade, or made by women in their homes or in workers' cooperatives. It is our priority to disclose the origins of every item we sell.
EC Wear is a unique resource for parents interested in the origins and manufacturing practices of their baby's clothing, and especially for those looking for alternatives to big chain stores, where the clothing is virtually all made in China. We do not sell clothing made in China because of the appalling human rights violations in the workplace as well as the devastating environmental record. We also strive to offer products that are eco-friendly, including a variety of wonderful organic cotton, wool, and hemp garments and we source products from green manufacturers. EC Wear is also committed to operating with the least possible negative impact on our environment. For example, we use recycled and repurposed shipping materials whenever available.
